Odumi Idogun, a revered masquerade, it makes a yearly appearance to bring prosperity, blessings, and purification to the Okpella community. This year, Odumi emerged on February 3rd, 2025, marking the first outing of the year. The event was celebrated with joyous processions through key areas of Okpella, in accordance with long-standing tradition.
Mr. Okhumode, a witness to the event, shared his thoughts: When Odumi appears, the sound of gongs fills the air, signaling a time for our ancestors to rejoice. With Odumi's presence, the year is already blessed. Our people should continue to uphold this tradition. Embracing our heritage is essential, as it connects us to our history and enriches our lives.
He concluded with a call to honor and preserve these cultural practices.
